Character Analysis - Jack Frost

Design Process -

I choose Jack Frost (The Guardians) as my Character analysis because he is a very mysterious and has multiple descriptions through history on how his character is looked upon.

Jack Frost?

Jack Frost is fictional character from the animation film 'The Guardian'. He is a personification of ice, winter, frost, snow, cold etc. He is also identify as an old man winter who is responsible of the frosty weather and known for leaving fern-like patterns on cold windows in winter.

During the 19th Century he was given a more developed characteristic of being a mischief or even a hero character.

Jack frost has appeared as a character in various films or television series. He is described in multiple ways, in some he is viewed as a villain while in others he is seen as a hero.

However, in the film 'The Guardians' he is represented as a guardian who bring joy and fun to children which showcase that he is a hero in this version. His character during this film seems very misunderstood even himself does not understand his purpose of life and why the 'moon' made him as who he is now, someone who is invisible towards human being. In the beginning we can see that he likes to create snow and play around with his powers towards the children however the guardians see this as causing trouble instead of bring joy towards the children. However, it can be heard that one of the mothers telling the children to not cause in trouble or otherwise 'Jack Frost' would take him away and kidnap him implying that he is a bad person in their perspective.

As the story goes he realises that his mission that the 'moon' had gave him is to bring joy to the children with his powers and this has lead the children into believing in him which allow them to see him just like the other guardians such as Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

It turns out that before he became a winter spirit, he was originally a normal human boy names Jackson Overland Frost, however while he was trying to save his sister from falling into the breaking ice he himself fell in and drown. This lead him to become the winter spirit. His physical appearance as a human and spirit is the same except in spirit he has white hair and blue eyes.
