For this week, we had to watch a video about "How To Find And Do Work That You Love (Ikigai)". In this video it helps us find what we love and are interested in so it would be easier for us to look for jobs that will actually excite us to go to work. Because there are so many professions in the art industry, we are encouraged to find our passion and the path that we would aim too in the future.
We learn about the word "Ikigai" which is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being". To start in finding the direction, path and our purpose in life, we were shown the Ikigai Venn diagram method. In this diagram we had to fill in what I love, what I'm good at, what do I think the world needs and what jobs that I enjoy that I think will pay me good.

After completing this diagram, it doesn't automatedly make me be very sure of myself.
When I'm asked about what I want to be in the future and what kind of Graphic Designer I want to be? I always hesitate and honestly do not know which is why I have a difficult time doing this assignment.
But it does make me wonder where am I actually interested in. What type of design or graphic? Some that are not listed in the diagram for example is my love for singing and swimming which I didn't think would be related to the topic of what type of graphic designer am I? But even though I have more interest in other fields other than Graphic, I still love and feel the need to draw or sketch and even if I feel to lazy and not interested to draw anything, I feel like I need to do some sketching while listening to music which is one of my hobbies.
Thinking about my surrounding and environment, I am from Brunei and the industry here is not very evolved which is why the limitation of having a graphic job in Brunei is very limited. I know it will be very difficult for me to find a good paying Graphic Design job which is why I will not limit myself to just keep on thinking "I have to do this or do that", for example I love baking so I've already been planning on starting a business and I have already started planning on doing a ring project business with my friends and with these in mind I think that the marketing and advertising for these business can be part of my "Graphic Design Journey" that will help me decide what I really want to do with my purpose of life. These limitations makes me think about loop holes and opportunities that are outside the box.
